If there's one food truck you gotta try this New Year, make sure it's the Shrimp Pimp, 'cuz they serve super sexy 'n succulent shrimp (by the seashore too). Featured on Rachael Ray's Show this past Fall, the Shrimp Pimp holds it's own with everything from Po Boys to Shrimp Bruschetta. It quite possibly may be the best shrimp – even Haddock – you'll ever taste with portions & prices that make it a steal!
- the most succulent shrimp i've ever had, super plump 'n juicy Drunken Shrimp Taco marinated in Aromatic Sherry Ginger Sauce with Carrots, Jicama & Cilantro $1 for $3/2 for $5
- so freakin' tender you don't even need the tartar sauce, monster crunch 'n spice rubbed The Frylander Haddock Fish & Chips with Guinness Beer Batter and Homemade French Fries $8
Let me start off by saying I'm not a huge shrimp eater, unless it's served with Cocktail Sauce or wrapped in Coconut. After trying the Shrimp Truck for the first time, I'll never look at Shrimp the same.
After just our 1st bite of the Drunken Shrimp Taco, my hand model and I literally looked at each other and said, "Um, should we go back for more?!?"– it was THAT good. The brothy, sweet vinegary Shrimp mixed with the crunch of the julienne Jicama & Carrots and super fresh 'n spicy Cilantro makes for one mean taco.
As for Fish 'n Chips, being half British naturally makes me a connoisseur and, again, this was the best I've ever had. First of all, I'm pretty sure they serve an ENTIRE WHOLE Haddock because the size of the fish was massive – Shrimp Pimp definitely wasn't kidding when they said the meal was large. The Fish itself is so unbelievably tender, buttery, and juicy. The Golden Beer Batter delivers a serious monster crunch. And the Macleod family recipe Spice Rub makes this whole package so delicious, you'll literally forgot all about the Tartar Sauce that comes with it – we did.
In the Homemade French Fries, Black Pepper & Parsley steal the show.
After our meal, we would've gone back for more, except for the fact we were stuffed to the gills!
I'm already planning my Next Bite though, and you should too. Follow @ShrimpPimpTruck
Happy New Year biters!
