While Mr. Anthony Bourdain is NOT behind the wheel of 2-week-old No Reservations Catering Food Truck, the gourmet wraps they roll out have every kind of protein you need from Lamb to Salmon, and they'll even split your meal in two.
The Grubdown:
- moist, buttery, fluffy, tangy "Off The Hook" Salmon Wrap ($8) with Lemon Dill Basmati Rice, Asparagus & Tobiko Wasabi Aioli in a Sun Dried Tomato Tortilla
- some of the best big Food Truck fries yet, Garlic Fries ($3) with Caperberry/Anchovy Aioli
I was really impressed by the No Reservations Catering truck. Their $8 wraps have it all – Lamb, Steak, Chicken, Salmon, 7-Roasted Vegetable, and Albacore Tuna with fun movie-inspired names like "Silence of the Lambs" and "Green Mile."
My hand model, Evan, and I ordered the Salmon Wrap with the recommended side of Garlic Fries. For the first time in my Food Truck ordering history, the server offered to split our wrap & fries in separate boxes – super nice of her and very convenient.
Af first bite we thought, "Wow, this wrap is moist!" And from there it just got better. The Lemon Dill Basmati Rice is super fluffy, buttery, and very tasty. The Salmon is fresh and tender, and for Evan's half abundant – sometimes that's just how the dice rolls. The moist – probably steamed – Sun Dried Tomato Tortilla adds a nice touch. And what I thought was chopped Caperberries is actually Asparagus, so that tangy pickled flavor most likely comes from a combination of the Lemon Dill Rice & Tobiko Wasabi Aioli (which was not spicy).
Both of us were very happy with the server's recommendation of the Garlic Fries vs. the Truffle Fries. (Ev is not a fan of anything Truffle – I know...devastating...for me.) The fries are really thick, and fluffy with a light, unoffensive garlicky crust. And the Caperberry/Anchovy dipping sauce is delish with a subtle sweet, honey mustard flavor.
Unless you've just done a 3-day vegetarian fast (like we did) or are a light eater, I don't recommend splitting the wrap. But I do think the portion is spot on for 1 person with possible extra fry leftoverage.
While we were too full to try the New York or Mocha Mousse Cheesecake Dessert $3, we definitely can't wait to go back – No Reservations required (you sooo saw that pun coming!)
@NoResCatering Truck will be @onAbbotKinney for First Friday Tonight!
Brava, Carrie! This is one of the bests posts I've seen on this subject in ages. For me, I feel that stckiing as close to whole foods as possible (whatever they be) is the best choice for my family. End of story.I agree with Amy as well. I dislike that Seinfeld seems deliberately intent on deceiving children rather than showing them that vegetables can be healthy.
