The White Elephant Hotel in Nantucket has been an island landmark for its premiere beach location and close proximity to boutique shopping in town since the 1920's. For the 2nd year in a row it was voted #1 by Travel + Leisure Magazine as The World's Best Hotel in New England. The restaurant, Brant Point Grill, is known for fabulous Steaks, Seafood, and picturesque views. The feel is Southern Plantation meets Massachusetts Nautical. Naturally, I had to eat it up. Sadly, I'll have to travel over 3,000 miles for the best Lobster Roll I had on my New England trip, minus the overbearing bread.
The Grubdown:
- mega outta control, super chunky 'n plump, sweet 'n tender Lobster with Rocket & Preserved Lemon Chervil Mayo on a hardy, crusty Roll ($18)
- clean flavors, refreshing and impressive Salmon FireCone Salad with Grilled & Smoked Salmon, Chopped Eggs, Olives, Asparagus & Lemon Vinaigrette ($15)
- creative, spicy 'n tart Nantucket Mule with 888 Cranberry-infused Vodka, Ginger Beer, Cranberry Syrup & Fresh Lime Juice ($11)
There once was a Roll from Nantucket
Whose Lobster was incredibly succulent
I said with a grin
With Lemon Chervil on my chin
If only the bread wasn't cut thick
Brant Point's Lobster Roll is definitely grubworthy – just check out those make-u-wanna-drool chunks in the picture. They certainly don't mess around when it comes to the Lobsta, which is why I've deemed it the best in New England (at least from the places I tried on my trip). The Lobster is seriously super tender 'n sweet, mega chunky 'n filling, and dressed with a tangy Lemon Chervil Mayo. My only gripe – the Roll. It's a little too thick and hard for my liking, and kinda made me miss the traditional, toasted 'n fluffy Hot Dog Roll from Flo's Clamshack.
The Salmon FireCone Salad is another stunner not to be missed. First of all, the presentation is unexpectedly beautiful. Secondly, mixed with Salmon 2-ways (Grilled and Smoked), it has a wonderful smokey flavor with a flaky yet smooth texture. The delicate Chopped Egg, bitter Kalamata Olives, and crunchy Asparagus all come together swimmingly with a refreshing Lemon Vinaigrette too.
The Nantucket Mule cocktail is definitely surprising. I'm a sucker for Ginger Beer, but never thought to pair it with Cranberry. And let me tell you the combination is genius. A must order!
Next time you're in Nantucket and wondering where to eat, Brant Point Grill will provide you with a relaxing vibe, friendly service, amazing views, and incredible food (including one Lobster Roll you wish you could stuff in your purse for the ride, or flight, home.)

Thank you for the great story. We love the picture of the lobster roll. It looks as big as my head. We have chagned the bread on the Lobster Roll, so you should come back and give it a second try. Have a great day!!

Oh, my Lord! That lobster looks absolutely irresistable. Next time in Nantucket, we're there.
