With the year's longest all-night candy-fest over – a.k.a. Halloween – it's time to flush out those sugar toxins with the Greenz on Wheelz food truck, "the only salad truck in town." With 10 kinds of Salads, 5 Melts, and 8 "Dirty" Potato Chips, you know this truck has been a long time comin' – same with your "been meaning to eat better" mantra.
The Grubdown:
- ridiculously large, well-oiled, light on the vinaigrette Veggie Salad with Tomato, Cucumber, Carrots, Avocado, Red Onion, Mushrooms, Bell Pepper, Black Olive, Garbanzo Beans, Guacamole + Chicken ($9)
- pungent 'n sweet All Natural "Maui Onion" Dirty Potato Chips ($1.50)
Before you know it, those holiday pounds are gonna start racking up. You've really only got two choices in this situation: A.) Start training for a 5k, 10k, or marathon and risk getting injured so you end up even bigger, or B.) Start mixing in a salad every now and then.
I choose B. I also choose Veggie Salads then add proteins like Chicken – does that make me a hypocrite, or just a healthier carnivore? You decide.
First off, this thing is ginormous, as in heavy, like I could be doing bicep curls with it. So don't even think about eating it unless you've got a person or two to split it with – 'cuz we all know there's no saving dressed salads. It's a little disappointing that leafy Mixed Greens don't come with the Veggie Salad, rather Romaine & Iceburg. But the Peppers and Garbanzo Beans up the fiber intake. The Mushrooms are bland, but the Chicken is tender with grilled char flavor. And the mound of Guacamole it comes with is always pleasing. (Bite Advice: shake it around before it's gone in 60 seconds.) I do have to say the Dressing is more on the oily side, so you might want to have at the condiment section yourself (see 3rd picture).
I am excited to return and try one of their 7 other salads like the "Mixed Greenz" with Apple, Blue Cheese & Walnut ($8), or the "Italian" with Mortadela, Prosciutto & Pepperoncini ($8). It's gonna be hard to steer clear of the carbs – Parmesan Butter Rubbed Sourdough Melts like the Roast Beef with Ortega Chili, Cheese & BBQ Sauce. Oh and let's not forget about the 8 different kinds of All Natural – hey that's good for me right?!? – Potato Chips like Smoky Chipotle & Sour Cream and Onion ($1.50)
If you have any intention of fitting into your favorite black skinny jeans this holiday season, then RUN, don't just follow @GreenzOnWheelz.
P.S. The 2nd food picture is the "After" shot, as in look how much salad was left over after I got full – you can't even tell, so please share!
Good web site you've got here.. It's difficult to find high-quality writing like yours these days. I honestly appreciate individuals like you! Take care!!
