A month or so ago I visited Tirovino while it was still in its early stages. Located on Melrose just a few blocks west of LA Brea, this wine bar has a stunning marble patio, luxurious plush pillow booths, and classic films projected on the entryway stone wall.
Trying to make it in time after work for their thankful happy hour (4pm 'til 8!!!pm), unfortunately the advertised "free chef selected complimentary plates" were more like a dream than a reality. At least the beer & wine were still on happy hour point, priced half off around $3-6. (And you know I still ordered some bites anyway.)
The Grubdown:
- creamy rice, but sparse meat and mushy peas Arancini Crispy Rice Croquettes with Braised Beef, Peas & Mozzarella Cheese $7
- more than a mouthful hunky portions of Burrata Cheese topped Pizza with Fresh Oregano and kinda dry crust $9
- supposedly the best pasta on the menu, lacked in flavor, more like butter 'n salt, Chitarra Carbonara with Italian Pancetta, Whipped Eggs & Parmigiano $18
- the only complimentary thing offered, addictive, tangy, sweet, chunky Tomato Basil Onion Marinara Dipping Sauce with crusty Bread
Keep in mind I visited Tirovino in its early stages. As you can read, everything was just ok and tasted sadly bland. However, I do think think it's got a lot of potential and plan on returning to test it out.
After all, any happy hour in LA til 8 is hard to come by. If only they offered half off prices on food to match the wine, then their potential could turn to profit.

The setup looks very relaxing and the prices aren't bad either! On top of that, the great back story of the place makes a good selling point.

These story behind Tirovino is rather cute. There's a whole family backing this place, with a guy who clearly wants to be a restauranteur. Just don't know if there's a kitchen to back the wine bar.
Thanks for chancing it though!
