It's Wednesday. So naturally I'm thinking about what your next bite this Friday should be – Loteria Grill at LA's Original Farmers Market on 3rd St. & Fairfax. It's easy, it's authentic, it's addictive, and it's going to happen.
Here's how: skip the register line. Don't even think about wasting your time with all the other freshmeats. Instead, head directly to the stools (nicely featured in the opening shot) at the counter. You can order there, sit while you wait, and watch the sous chefs make their freshly pressed Sopes (little Masa Tortillas).
The Grubdown:
- if only i had a spoon for this thick, spicy, incredible red sauce, Enchilada Rojas with stewed shredded Beef, Red Chile Guajillo & Queso Fresco
- don't miss this cuban-like soup style of hearty, heartwarming Black Beans
- must order, savory, succulent shredded meat that's juicy in every bite Carne Deshebrada Tacos with Fresh Guacamole, Salsa Chipotle, and finely Chopped White Onion & Cilantro
- light 'n spicy sauce, fresh 'n crunchy, on a warm bed of beans Tinga de Pollo Tostada with Chipotle Peppers, Salsa Roja de Chipotle, Black Beans, Shredded Lettuce, Mexican Cream, and Cotija Cheese
If you've already been to the Hollywood location, you're really cheating yourself by not going to the OG LG. Mexican, or in this case Oaxacan cuisine, is best fed in the down home, authentic feel that only the Farmers Market can provide.
Salud!
