I used to write a Food Truck Friday blog every week. Who'd a thought, after moving to OC, they'd follow me down to one of my favorite places, Roger's Gardens.
Every Saturday & Sunday, food trucks like SeaBirds & The Lobsta Truck roll into Roger's back parking lot at The Victory Garden from 11am to 2pm. And when I saw the Bite Me Foods truck last Sunday, emblazoned with "Seasonal Local Organic" and a big pink Hollywood sign, I couldn't help but feel a little hungry for LA.
The Grubdown:
- warm 'n comforting, the cake itself has great moisture, but the greens are dry, Potato Leek & Quinoa Cakes with Parmesan, Mozzarella, Kale & Sauteed Mushrooms on a bed of Spinach with Maple Mustard Drizzle $8
- a little deceiving because they're not whole, more like a shaved salad strong in charcoal & garlic flavors, Crispy Brussel Sprouts with Bacon & Maple Mustard Drizzle $5
I was surprised by how small Bite Me Food's menu was, yet still it covered every base: Fish Tacos, Steak & Brie Croissants, Kids Quesadillas, and the aforementioned.
The servers were sweet, hand delivering our food to us at the tables. I just wish the food was better dressed.
P.S. If you buy from the food truck they'll give you a coupon good for $5 off a Roger's Gardens purchase of $20 or more that same day.
