Last Sunday, the hand model and I took a stroll to Roger's Gardens for some Basil...and Waffles.
If you haven't heard, every weekend from 11am to 2pm, Roger's hosts food trucks on the back lot near the herb garden. And with each food truck purchase, you'll receive a $5 off coupon to spend inside.
Since it was Sunday brunch for us, we couldn't resist the sweet smell of piping hot Liege Waffles from the Waffle-icious Food Truck. They import the good stuff from Belgium, like Pearl Sugar which caramelizes when baked, leaving a a sweet crunch in every warm, fluffy bite.
The Grubdown:
- oozing with thick melted gooey cheese, savory, smokey, and the jam gives it a necessary sweet acid kick, The Full Monty Cristo Liege Waffle with Havarti & Cheddar Cheese, Black Forest Ham, Oven Roasted Turkey, Powdered Sugar & Raspberry Preserves $8
- more than generous helping of fruit, don't be shy with the Whipped Cream to cut the sweetness, Nutella & Strawberries Liege Waffle with Powdered Sugar $5.50
My favorite was the Monty Cristo because I just can't get enough of a sweet 'n salty combo. My hand model, the purist, liked the dessert option of course.
We both left the meal feeling stuffed to the gills as the Liege Waffles themselves are huge on their own.
Make sure to buy a drink to help wash down all the ooey gooey-ness. And don't plan on eating for another 6 hours, even if you share. (Your $8 will last you long!)
