If you haven't been to an underground supper club, then you haven't lived. As a foodie, they're one of my favorite things because, sometimes, a dance party in your mouth is better than the one on the dance floor.
So how does it work? First off, you gotta get on the list. And Your Next Bite's first guest blogger spot, The Suite Life LA, has the key.
They attended September's Re Creo Supper Club event, held on the rooftop in downtown overlooking a slew of 1920's bank buildings and a beautiful LA sunset. As The Suite Life states, Re Creo, brought to you by Executive Chef & Founder Jean Valcarcel "is a play on the Spanish word 'recreo' which means 'to have fun, entertain, enliven, or delight'".
Part of that fun is the mystery. After RSVPing for a spot on their secret limited-seating list – if you've snagged it – you'll receive an invitation on the event's place & date. However, details of the 10-course meal won't be revealed 'til supper time. Here's a few of The Suite Life's favorite dishes from September.
The Grubdown:
- the "Top Nosh" of the night, Root Beer Braised Short Ribs with Miso Mashed Potatoes & Tangerine Chermoula
- art on a spoon, Korean Steak Tartare with Frisee & Quail Egg
- a uniquely savory dessert, Parmegiano Regiano Custard with Spiced Carrot Salad & Golden Raisin Puree
While you'll always be greeted by a specialty Welcome Cocktail, you'll need to BYOWine. The Price? A suggested cash donation between $75 and $125 per person.
The guest list for this month's October 25th Brother's Grimm-inspired "Ne-Creo Supper Club" – just in time for Halloween – closes October 19th.
Don't be scared, because The Suite Life has the "skeleton" key to get you on the secret list here.
