Last week was my first time dining at Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop. (I know, I know.) My friends, coworkers, and pretty much everyone has been telling me I "MUST GO" because it's just my type of place. Well, they were right.
Greenleaf is your typical hipster cafe with an earthy rustic vibe, indie music, organic healthy ingredients, and a bar with fresh juiced cocktails. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner to enjoy inside, or on the heated patio. They even have a separate coffee/grab 'n go shop to the side.
The hand model and I visited the Costa Mesa 17th st. location, which is one of five from OC to LA. We were overwhelmed by all the yummy options on the menu, so we went overboard and ordered it all.
The Grubdown:
- the bomb dot com, buttery juicy salmon, tropical citrusy 'n crunchy, Lemongrass Salad with Grilled Salmon (instead of Chicken) Scarborough Farms Baby Mixed Greens, Mango, Pineapple, Jicama, Popcorn Shoots, Toasted Coconut, Cashews, Thai Chili & Lemongrass Lychee Vinaigrette $11.50
- cheesy, truffley, salty goodness, there's a reason why it's voted best turkey sandwich in America, Turkey Melt with Aged Cheddar, Spinach, Caramelized Onion, Truffle Oil & Whole Grain Mustard Aioli on Pretzel Bread $10.95
- mainly pureed so it's not fattening, hint of truffle otherwise somewhat bland, Mushroom Soup du Jour with Truffle Oil, Basil & Nonfat Milk $4
- just ok, baked so not crunchy, dip is really guacamole, Baked Sweet Potato Fries with Avocado Pesto
Forks down, the salad and sandwich were the best thing on the menu, so don't skip 'em. Oh, and did I mention they even have Ginger Beer on tap?!?!
I'm definitely coming back for more.
