Last week, I finally made it to Shuck Oyster Bar at The Mix in Soco. I can't believe it's taken me this long, since seafood is quite possibly my favorite thing.
The place is casual, intimate, and minimalist.
Walking in, we spotted a table of hipsters waxing poetic over a bottle of wine – sans the corkage fee. We had a choice to sit at the Raw Oyster Bar made up of cool blue & light gray rustic woods, or the white leather booths.
Perusing the menu, we couldn't decide from the short list of options, which were all too enticing – Lobster Roll, Clam Chowder, Grilled Cheese Sandwich.
In the end, we made the right decision, and DEFINITELY got the most bang for our buck.
The Grubdown:
- medium sized, earthy, briny, Island Creek Oysters from Massachusetts with Housemade Spicy Red Sauce, fresh grated Horseradish & House Pickle Relish $3 each
- perfect for two, sweet 'n sour, massive bun, Fried Oyster Po' Boy with Chili & Housemade Cole Slaw $16
- beautiful texture, lots of seafood, sweet chunky tomato 'n tangy cheese, Seafood Stew with Mahi Mahi, Mussels, Clams, Shrimp, Parmesan, Parsley & Toasted French Bread Slices $14
We'll be returning soon to Shuck, as the food had clean flavors and the service was friendly.
Bite Advice: Go with a big group and order the whole menu to share.
