Last week Krave Kobe Burger Grill opened up atop Newport Coast in Newport Beach. It's a new fast-casual franchise that prides itself on having 100% natural, sustainable ingredients, all made fresh to order.
Speaking of fresh, I know it was opening weekend, but the 20 deep line out the door, and the one and a half hour wait it took for our food to arrive, made it seem like they were driving all the way to the farm for each order.
The service was more than friendly though. They even offered us a free round of drinks for waiting. Unfortunately, the food was lackluster.
The Grubdown:
- bun so dry it overshadowed the meat, Kobe Burger with 5oz Kobe Beef Patty, Caramelized Onions, Beefsteak Tomato, Green Leaf Lettuce & Signature Garlic Aioli $7.99
- In-N-Out style, fresh cut Kennebec Potato French Fries $2.25
- thick 'n crumbly, fried-to-order Beer Battered Maui Onion Rings $3.95
- fresh 'n fruity, Spring Salad with Mixed Greens, Candied Walnuts, Dried Cranberries, Blue Cheese & Pomegranate Balsamic Vinaigrette $6.99 Small/$8.99 Large
Krave Kobe Burger Grill has a great selection of Craft Beers & Wines, like Ellie's Brown Ale and Cakebread Cellars Cabernet.
They also offer a Weekend Brunch with specialties like a Kobe Breakfast Burger topped with an Organic Fried or Scrambled Egg $9.99.
