Spanish Tapas is one of my favorite cuisines. Ever since what used to be my favorite restaurant in LA, Cobras & Matadors, closed, I've been on the hunt for something just like it to fill the void. Until now.
Pueblo is one of the newest restaurants to come to SOCO in Costa Mesa. It's an intimate, modern Spanish Tapas spot with a small patio out front and long bar inside. The service is warm and welcoming. And the food is full of authentic, home-cooked flavor 'n spice that'll leave your tongue, not your napkin, to clean up all the juicy mess.
The Grubdown:
- tender, tomato 'n cooling mint, Albondigas Lamb Meatballs with Chickpea & Yogurt-Mint Sauce $11
- sweet, creamy 'n earthy, Queso Fundido Charred Goat Cheese with Black Truffle & Honey $9
- juicy, plump 'n garlicky, Gambas al Ajillo Sauteed Prawns, Tiger Shrimp, Olives & Garlic $13
- sweet, sour, crunchy 'n charred, Costillas de Cerdo Pork Ribs, Green Beans, Candied Chile & Almond $12
- creamy, salty, fatty 'n everything else your heart desires, Mar y Montana Seared Pork Belly, Sea Scallops & Cauliflower Crema $14
- surprisingly not our favorite because it was dry, Traditional Paella with Shrimp, Chicken, White Fish, Clams & Potatoes (Special)
- warm buttery Grilled Toast with Red Pepper Dip (complimentary)
Thank you Pueblo for warming my longing-heart's desire for some authentic Spanish Tapas with a modern twist here in The OC.
P.S. Don't miss Pueblo's "Social Hour" a.k.a. "happy hour" from 3pm to 5pm featuring $20 Cava bottles and Wine Flights.
