Holiday shopping can be exhausting. The goods news is Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill just opened at The Grove LA. So after you've bought your mom a scarf, sat the kids on Santa's lap, and done the whole "one for you, one for me" gifting game, grab a table at Blue Ribbon where there's something for everyone.
Brought to you by the Bromberg brothers (Bruce and Eric), the Blue Ribbon chain of restaurants has blended American comfort food and classic French cuisine without all the stuffiness. For the past 20 years – from London to LA – they've successfully opened brasseries, Fried Chicken shops, bakeries, and now Sushi bars.
Here's a list of what to eat from Panko-Crusted Fried Chicken to Crispy Rice with Truffle Oil.
The Grubdown:
- truly beautiful and innovative flavor combo, Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice with Avocado, Eel Sauce & Truffle Oil $22
- classic, lemon zesty with squishy texture, Wakame Seaweed Salad with Sesame Dressing $5.50
- you're gonna have to do some jaw exercises to get all this in your mouth, but it's worth it, Tiger Roll with Fried Shrimp, Spicy Tuna, Masago, Sprouts & Avocado $19
- buttery, pure 'n simple without the wasabi surprise, Salmon "Sake" Sushi $4/piece
- hot, juicy, spicy 'n sweet, Panko-crusted Fried Chicken "Blue Ribbon Style" with Wasabi Honey $28
It's hard to pinpoint the best dish because everything was truly delicious. But, being a connoisseur of Crispy Rice, I particularly enjoyed the Truffle Oil touch, and the fact that you can dress it up with Caviar should you choose to.
The Fried Chicken is a must-order too, being a Blue Ribbon classic. Just make sure you have enough patience to wait for it to cool down, because they serve it piping hot!
Luckily, the restaurant is right across from The Grove's main stage, where holiday snowflakes can help cool your mouth down nightly at 7:00 and 8:00pm.
Happy Holidays!
